After about age 40, the oils in your skin change. That change makes a compound called 2-nonenal, which has a faint musty smell. Most people notice it on pillowcases, collars and scarves. It is not poor washing. It is just how skin changes with age.

This smell is oily. Most soaps and body washes only wash off sweat and dirt, so they slide right past it. Deodorant and body spray just cover the smell for a little while.

Persimmon is full of natural tannins. The tannin sticks to the musty smell and lifts it off your skin. The smell is gone, not covered with perfume.

Many people notice a change after the first few washes. Give it a full 30 days for the best result, because it takes time to clear the smell that has built up in your skin and hair.

Use it in the shower like any bar soap. Work up a good lather and pay extra attention to the spots where odor collects most: the back of your neck, behind your ears, your chest, your upper back, and your hairline. Leave the lather on for about half a minute, then rinse.

About four weeks with daily use. A soap dish that drains will make it last longer. Do not leave the bar sitting in standing water.

It should not. We made it for older skin, which is usually drier. There are no harsh cleansers in it.
