What we collect
Information you give us
- Your name, email, phone number, and shipping address when you order.
- Your billing address.
- Your email if you join our list.
- Anything you write to us in an email, a review, or a contact form.
Information we collect automatically
- Your IP address, browser, and device type.
- Which pages you visit, what you click, and how long you stay.
- The site that sent you to us, if any.
We collect this with cookies and similar tools. A cookie is a small file your browser stores. It is how your cart remembers what you put in it.
What we do not collect
We never see or store your full card number. When you pay, your card goes straight to our payment processor. We only see the last four digits and the card type.
Why we use it
- To take your order, charge you correctly, and ship your package.
- To email you about your order.
- To answer your questions.
- To send you marketing emails, but only if you said yes.
- To see what is working on our site so we can improve it.
- To spot fraud and keep the store safe.
- To follow the law.
We do not sell your personal information.
Who we share it with
We share only what is needed, and only with companies that help us run the store:
- Shopify runs our store and checkout.
- Payment processors handle your payment.
- Shipping carriers deliver your package and need your address.
- Email tools send your order updates and our newsletter.
- Analytics and ad tools such as Google and Meta show us how the site is used and help us reach new customers.
We may also share information if the law requires it, or if we sell or merge the business. If that ever happens, we will tell you.
Cookies and ads
Some cookies are required for the site to work, like keeping your cart. Others are optional and used for analytics and ads. You can turn off cookies in your browser settings, but parts of the site may stop working.
You may see our ads on other sites after visiting us. You can limit this in your Google and Meta ad settings, or through your browser.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- Show you what information we hold about you.
- Correct anything that is wrong.
- Delete your information.
- Stop sending you marketing emails.
- Stop selling or sharing your information for ads. We do not sell it, but you can still ask.
To do any of these, email support@truetannin.com. We will reply within 30 days. We may ask you to confirm who you are first, so we do not hand your data to someone else.
You can unsubscribe from marketing emails any time using the link at the bottom of every one. Order emails will still be sent, since you need those.
If you are in the EU or UK
We handle your data because we need it to complete your order, because you gave permission, or because we have a fair business reason such as preventing fraud. You can withdraw permission at any time. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
If you are in California
You may ask what personal information we collected in the past 12 months, ask us to delete it, and ask us not to share it for ads. We will not treat you differently for asking.
How long we keep it
We keep order records for as long as the tax and accounting laws require, usually 7 years. Marketing emails are kept until you unsubscribe. Website analytics are kept up to 2 years.
How we protect it
Our site uses encryption, and payments run through processors that meet card industry security standards. No system online is perfect, but we take this seriously.
Children
Our store is not for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child gave us information, email us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. Big changes will be announced on our site.
