We make one bar of soap, for one problem almost nobody says out loud: the musty smell that skin starts to give off as you get older.

We started with one simple question

Why does soap stop working as you get older?

You shower. You use soap. You still catch a faint smell on your collar by lunchtime. Most people blame themselves. They scrub harder. They buy stronger soap. Nothing really changes.

Here is the truth: nothing is wrong with you. Your skin simply changed.

The science behind the smell

After about age 40, the oils in our skin change. That change makes a compound called 2-nonenal, and it has a faint musty smell. Most people call it old person smell. You notice it first on pillowcases, collars and scarves.

The problem is that this smell is oily. Regular soap and deodorant only wash off sweat and dirt, so they slide right past it. Body spray covers it for an hour or two.

In Japan, people have used persimmon for this exact problem for generations. Persimmon is full of natural tannins. The tannin sticks to the musty smell and lifts it off your skin, instead of hiding it under perfume. That is the whole idea behind our name.

Why we are called True Tannin

A lot of soaps put a drop of persimmon in the mix and put a big picture of fruit on the label. We did not want to do that.

Tannin is the part that actually does the work. So we built the bar around it and named the company after it. No fruity perfume to mask anything. No long list of harsh cleansers. Just a gentle bar that handles the real cause.

Made for skin that has changed

Older skin is drier skin. A soap that removes the smell but leaves you tight and itchy is no help. Ours is made to clean and deodorize while staying kind to your skin.

We keep it simple. No sulfates. No parabens. No heavy synthetic fragrance.
